TRAILS ADOPTED BY ROCK SOLID OFF ROAD

In Coordination with the U.S. Department of the Interior; Bureau of Land Managment and Stay the Trail Colorado, Rock Solid Off Road has adopted the following trails. As a part of this commitment to keep Colorado Trails Open to the public we are required to maintain the trail to a useable state. This included trash cleanup, clearing man made and natural debris, and ensuring that the general public has a safe and enjoyable time on the trail. MEDANO PASS - Our next Trail Project on Medao is September 8th 2012. Rock Solid Off Road does at least an annual trail project on Medano Pass. This is done in conjunction with Correctional Workers Week, honoring the employees at the Florence Colorado Federal Correctional Complex. We have a large turnout every year and do a lot of good to maintain this trail. As we run the route we clean up all the trash left by irresponsible off roaders as well as clear debris that mother nature left in the path. If you would like to use this trail it is located south of Westcliffe, Colorado and runs all the way over Madano Pass into the Great Sand Dunes National Park. This is a great trail for all experience levels and all levels of vehicle. Almost all stock 4x4's can make this trail with little issue. The fun part of this trail is all the water crossings and the sand at the end of the run. If you have not already done so you should air down your tires before hitting the sand and if possible DO NOT stop. To help the forrest service has placed black rubber mats in places where the sand gets deep so that you can keep traction, if you do have to stop try to do so on one of these mats so you can get traction up to keep going. To leave this trail you can either come back the way you came or you can exit through the main park entrance. If you leave the main park entrance there is a small fee. Shelf Road and Gulches Roads - Rock Solid Off Road is currently scheduled for a cleanup on this trail March 8th 2012 and June 13th 2012 to clean up trash and any debris. This is a beautiful scenic trail off of shelf road just outside of Canon City Colorado. The trail itself is on Bureau of Land Managment Property and has limits to which trails are accessable via vehicle. It is well worth taking the time to either hike or bike the other trails not reachable by vehicle.  To read more about Shelf Road CLICK HERE
